Vumilia means Perseverance in Swahili. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic the women of the village of Kamba in Kenya worked hard to hand-weave these beautiful totes to earn income so they could feed their families. The Vumilia Tote is made of sisal and features a heart-shaped leather tag as a reminder of the love and care these artisans put in their craft. This tote is the perfect size for hitting the shops, the town, or the beach.
Approx. Measurements: 12” x 19" Materials: Sisal fiber and genuine leather Artisan Information: Sisal bags are mostly made by the Kamba tribe located in Eastern Kenya. Kamba land as it is known is often plagued by dry weather and sisal is one of the few crops that survives well in that region. Every single handmade bag is transported to the Vapor Center in Gichagi Kenya where artisans working with leather attach additional components to make this beautiful product. The Gichagi slum is located outside the community of Ngong, Kenya and is home to over 10,000 people, many of which live in extreme poverty.
Through your purchase of the Vumilia Sisal Tote, you are helping Vapor Ministries meet needs, feed souls and elevate God in some of the poorest places on earth. Every artisan-made product is unique and will have slight variation.
